International Conference “Dam Safety – 2024”

As you are aware, the Dam Safety Society was launched in India and also overseas during the ICOLD 2023 event at Gothenburg, Sweden which has been well received by the dam professionals across the world have shown their interest to join Dam Safety Society, and to share the concerns and capabilities amongst the dam safety professionals to build capacities in dam safety assurance sector. Dam Safety Society, is to cover all the scientific, technological and managerial aspects of dam safety and to set up a forum, to deliberate on the unique challenges posed by existing dams for evolving unique solutions in order to ensure their safety. Considering the recent extreme events leading to disasters in many places, it has been decided by the Dam Safety Society (DSS) Governing Council that we may hold regular meets/training programmes/workshops on regional basis in different States capital, to focus on various aspects of dam operation, maintenance, simulation, emergency responses, rehabilitation and management so that the professionals practicing in the field have opportunities to find solutions and to interact with the community in general for honing their responses to various situations.
In line with the above, Dam Safety Society in association with Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited and Water Resources Department, Government of Gujarat proposed to organize International Conference: Dam Safety – 2024 on 18-19th July, 2024 at Kevadia, Gujarat preceded by a two day Workshop on Instrumentation of Dams including Seismic instrumentation on 16-17th July, 2024 at the same venue. The themes/topics identified for deliberations during the international conference and workshop are given in the enclosed draft brochure of the event for your kind perusal and reference. The event is designed to help the Central and State Govt. officers, dam owners, CPSUs, PSUs, to update their knowledge, tools, and support that they need to plan and implement effectively the dam safety strategies. Resources speakers from dam owners, consultants from India and abroad and also from industry will share their experiences with the participants and will also discuss the unique challenges posed by existing dams for evolving solutions in order to ensure their safety.
The program will include enlightening presentations from leading professionals, an exhibition of latest products and processes followed by a study tour to dams. The Conference has one Plenary Session, 7 Technical Sessions and one Industry Session.
Since, your organisation is involved in the rehabilitation and repair of dams, we request you to kindly arrange to submit the technical papers on the different themes for consideration to their presentations in the conference, so that state of the art could be disseminated to the dam professionals and agencies involved in dam safety management.
Keeping in view the above, we request you to kindly arrange to circulate the details of conference to your Members of National Committee; Dam building agencies and also to dam safety experts who can contribute the papers on the different topics and participate in the deliberations of the conference, in order to build their own strength along with the strength of the dam safety assurance sector.
