Siraj Perera has been chosen by the Executive to represent ANCOLD on the ICOLD Committee for Climate Change.

Siraj has managed and overseen the development of government policy and legislation on emission reduction and climate change adaptation for the Victorian water sector. His team developed Australia’s first water sector climate change adaptation plan in 2018 with 20 actions, all of which have now been implemented.

He was invited to present a paper at this year’s ICOLD Congress held in Marseille, France. His paper was titled ‘Climate Change Challenges in Managing Dams’. The Terms of Reference for the ICOLD committee (Committee Y) is consistent with the work Siraj has done in recent years covering emissions reduction and climate change adaptation.

Siraj believes that while climate change poses many challenges to dam owners and practitioners, it also creates unique opportunities. The Executive are confident that he has the knowledge, experience and the networks to contribute to this important ICOLD committee.
