ANCOLD Guidelines in hardcopy or digital format have been issued by ANCOLD Incorporated after preparation by a specialist Working Group of its members, scrutiny by independent reviewers and endorsement by the ANCOLD Executive. It constitutes one of a suite of inter-related Guidelines that are intended for use in various aspects of design, construction, management and operation of dams. They are not a prescriptive Code of practice, but a basis for experienced practitioners to use in conjunction with other relevant information and techniques, supplemented by their sound professional judgement.
At the time of issue, the processes, techniques and recommendations in this document are considered to represent good professional practice in Australia. From time to time developments in the subject matter are likely to occur, with all Guidelines in the suite, including this document. Consequently, at any given time, there may be amendments contemplated by ANCOLD, and/or known to relevant professionals, but not yet published.

DRM Settings Overview:
1. Device Limit: Set to 5 devices: Enjoy flexibility while maintaining reasonable access control.
2. Dynamic Watermark Controls: Dual-level watermarks: Identify the source of any ANCOLD Guideline images found on the internet, enhancing traceability.
3. Printing and Copy Controls: Restriction on printing and copying: Preserve the integrity of ANCOLD content by preventing unauthorized reproduction.
4. Screen Sharing/Print Controls: Any efforts to screen grab or screen share are logged against the user. At ANCOLD’s discretion, breaching copyright policy may result in user bans from utilising the digital format.
5. Offline Access Controls: Measures to protect content integrity and adherence to licensing terms.
End User Agreement: All end users, whether individual subscribers or part of an organisation’s Team, are subject to these terms upon signing up for a subscription or gaining access through their Organisational subscription. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritise the security and protection of ANCOLD’s digital assets.

Access to ANCOLD Digital Guidelines is via an annual (12-months from the time of purchase) subscription to the full suite of ANCOLD Guidelines.
Individual user subscriptions are available to Non-members, and to Associate and Retired Associate Members.
Organisational subscriptions (multiple user) are only available to Organisational Members.

The voting representative (and/or nominated Manager) controls which employees have Digital Guideline access, limited to the user subscription level chosen. Where the 50+ user subscription is chosen, all employees set up in website as Team members will automatically have access to the digital guidelines.

Sustaining Members have access to an annual organisational subscription of 50+ users as part of their membership benefits.

Here you will find a list of all the Digital Resources you’ve downloaded, this includes all Papers, Seminars, Bulletins and the current Digital Guidelines.
Click on a download link to access the web viewer page for the selected Guideline.
This is a general guide put together by the digital rights management platform we use, Vitrium, on how to use the web viewer including Page Viewing & Layout, Annotations and Search features.
Please be aware that ANCOLD digital guidelines don’t have access to all of the functionality mentioned in the guide, such as printing and offline access. If the function isn’t showing as available in the ANCOLD web viewer then we have not adopted it.
Open the document in your web viewer as you would to view there.
On the right side you click on the three horizontal lines and then Download protected file in the drop down. Once downloaded open the file in one of the supported PDF apps listed below.

Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble opening a protected PDF file, here are some common issues and how to resolve them:
1. Opening the PDF in a Browser
– Issue: You may be trying to open the PDF in a browser.
– Identification: If the PDF is open in a browser tab (like Chrome, Firefox, etc.), this is likely the issue.
– Solution: Vitrium’s protected PDFs do NOT work in browsers. You need to open the PDF with one of the supported PDF apps listed below:
– Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
– Adobe Acrobat DC
– PDF-XChange Editor
2. Opening the PDF in Mac Preview
– Issue: You may be trying to open the PDF in Mac Preview.
– Identification: If you see the PDF trying to open in Mac Preview, this is the issue.
– Solution: Vitrium’s protected PDFs do NOT work with Mac Preview. You need to open the PDF with one of the supported PDF apps listed below:
– Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
– Adobe Acrobat DC
– PDF-XChange Editor
3. Global Object Security Policy (GOSP)
– Issue: The global object security policy has not been disabled.
– Identification: A pop-up message with instructions appears in your PDF app but may be closed before being read, causing the document to close.
– Solution: Disable the global object security policy, then try opening your document again. Refer to the section “What is the Global Object Security Policy (GOSP)” to learn more about this feature and how to disable it in different PDF apps.
By following these instructions, you should be able to successfully open the protected PDF file.
1- 50 Employees Subscription:
Once you have purchased your subscription through the shopping cart and your access tier has been set by us (this can take up to 24 business hours), go to the dropdown under your name and click ‘Downloads’.
In your Dashboard menu click on Team. Here you can see the employees that you have granted access as part of you membership. The instructions for adding employees to your Team can be found here.
You can grant Team members access to digital guidelines by clicking the button next to their name. This can be toggled on and off.
50+ Employees Subscription:
This is the easiest organisational subscription to manage as once you’ve paid for your subscription within 24 hours (business days) all the employees you’ve added to your Team will have access to Digital Guidelines in their Downloads.
Active Account Management:
It’s crucial to maintain the accuracy of your Team members. To facilitate this:
- Use Work Email Addresses: For optimal account management, encourage employees to use their work email addresses during the account creation process.
- Review: Actively review your Team members periodically to remove individuals who are no longer associated with your organisation.
