Large dam portfolios generate significant quantities of data that may be used to generate metrics for assessing the performance of dams and prioritising works accordingly. Dam risks are often not adequately expressed in corporate risk frameworks, and this can lead to challenges for dam owners to prioritise dam works against other risks a business may also be required to manage. This paper presents examples of metrics a dam owner may use to convey dam safety risks, and methodologies for mapping dam safety risks
into a corporate framework.
