2024 – Construction of the Site C Hydroelectric Project in Canada

ACCIONA has completed the construction of the Site C hydroelectric project, located in northwestern British Columbia, Canada. An iconic and challenging construction project in the north of Canada.

Site C will be the third dam, and hydroelectric power plant on the Peace River, as well as becoming one of the largest dams in Canada, ensuring the supply of clean and renewable energy for more than 100 years to an average of 450,000 homes. Site C will provide a large amount of renewable and clean energy and will support economic development and job creation in the region.

The project consists of the construction of an earth-fill dam, 1,050 meters long and 60 meters high and with a volume of 16 million m3.

In addition, to support the hydroelectric generating station and spillways, a 70-metre-high foundation structure in Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) has been constructed, with a volume of 1.8 million m3.
