This paper provides dam owners, first responders and regulators a clear and practical example of a modern format for a Dam Safety Emergency Plan (DSEP) which can be implemented at low cost, using the Microsoft SharePoint web-based platform. It is particularly relevant for portfolio dam owners who are looking to improve efficiency in managing DSEP documentation, whilst also ensuring that emergency agencies who access the plans are viewing the latest version, which is specific only to the dam of interest without superfluous information. This approach provides many advantages not readily available with a traditional hardcopy DSEP format, whilst providing sufficient redundancy to ensure that if cloud-based systems are interrupted, critical dam safety emergency information is still accessible via printed format. The ultimate outcome of this approach is a streamlined distribution of information across all responding agencies, resulting in an informed, consolidated response effort and minimisation of harm during a dam safety emergency.
