The incorporation of climate change in hydrologic analysis and consequently risk assessments is increasingly becoming common practice and a requirement under different regulatory bodies for dam improvement projects.
There is currently limited guidance on how to quantify and incorporate climate change analysis into risk assessments. Different emission pathways and time horizons in which to undertake analyses add to the complexity for both designers and owners to make decisions to accommodate future uncertainties.
This paper proposes two frameworks in which to evaluate potential future upgrade requirements.
